Crissa Keen-Tessoni
Head Instructor

Crissa Keen-Tessoni has been riding since she was 6 years old. A native of Portsmouth, RI, she has an extensive background in hunter/jumper equitation,  dressage, and natural horsemanship.  Crissa is currently pursuing a US Dressage Foundation Bronze Medal and plans to show at third level this year in addition to showing and coaching at local hunter/jumper shows and horse trials. She has a Certified Horsemanship Association Level 3 Instructor Certification, and is happy teaching riders of all ages and levels.   When she's not teaching lessons, you will find her riding her Zweibrucker mare Mercedes, and riding/auditing in clinics with top riders and trainers from around the world.  Crissa is passionate about sharing knowledge and techniques from the highest levels of the sport with her students, and excels at helping riders and their horses to understand each other individually to strengthen their partnership.

Sophie Sawyer
Assistant Instructor
Sophie began riding with Crissa in 2015, after several years of childhood lessons and shortly after finding Dakota, a then-unstarted young Appaloosa mare. After years of dedication and learning, she and Dakota, now 7, are enjoying successful competition in jumpers and equitation and have plans to compete in dressage and horse trials in upcoming seasons. Sophie’s journey training her horse has given her the perfect experience to educate beginner riders on correct basics and communication with horses. She frequently teaches alongside Crissa for the program and manages the majority of our summer camp activities. Her patience and attention to detail has helped several young riders to flourish, and has made her a favorite with kids (of all ages) around the farm!
